Perinatal

At IMPACT we advance women’s health research.

The neglect of women in health research.

As a result of the lower representation of women in this field, there are fewer treatments available for specific diseases that affect them. In addition, because women are underrepresented in clinical trials, treatments may be less effective, have unwanted side effects, or inadequate management, as the disorders have simply been ignored.

One in 10 women in the world has endometriosis.

It is a chronic disease that generates intense pain and can lead to infertility. It is currently only diagnosed when it is very advanced, and its complications are difficult to reverse, highlighting the urgent need for early screening to identify patients at risk and avoid its side effects.

The risks of obstetric syndromes.

Obstetric syndromes, such as hypertension, gestational diabetes, or premature delivery, not only affect the health of the unborn child and the pregnant woman but also have long-term effects by increasing the risk of chronic diseases in the child and its mother, establishing an intergenerational cycle that can determine the long-term health and well-being of the population.

At IMPACT we develop clinical and scientific research to advance better diagnostics in obstetric and perinatal diseases.
